Overview
The FS47x family of TV video encoders are specifically designed for battery operated handheld devices such as Personal Media Players (PMPs), Smartphones, portable Navigation Systems and other similar portable devices. The FS47x family maintains the demonstrated quality and benefits of Summit Semiconductor's current line of video encoders, provides additional flexibility to system designers and integrates a highly optimized power management engine that enables long battery life without compromising performance.
The FS47x family accepts various data inputs, including RGB and YCrCb, through a programmable digital input interface that supports 24 / 18 / 16 / 15 / 12 / 8 bit pixel data lengths. The digital inputs are converted, scaled, (using patented artifact free scaling and flicker reducing techniques) interlaced, and then encoded into NTSC or PAL analog formats.
Image Quality
Advanced 2D Flicker Filter: Summit Semiconductor's patented filtering technique reduces flicker to maintain text readability even with small Asian fonts, web pates, presentations, and movies. This filter technology is significantly more effective than typical three-line-average flicker filters.
Scaling: Summit Semiconductor's scaling technology provides finely adjustable, artifact-free scaling independently in X and Y scale to allow perfect sizing of the output to any television. The FS47x encoders can display an image accurately while perfectly sizing the image on the TV, without missing lines causing luma distortions, or color shifts. The FS47X scaling engine can support conversion of VGA to 720P input resolutions to NTSC or PAL TV video outputs.
Color Conversion: Y-notch and C-bandpass filters are built into the FS47x family to prevent color rainbows and bleeding on NTSC composite TVs.
Power Management
The FS47x family of TV encoders contains advanced power management features that make it the ideal solution for battery-powered handheld devices.
These features include load detection, standby, sleep and deep sleep modes. When in sleep and deep sleep modes current draw is reduced to less than 5uA and 500nA respectively.
